Retreat Description:  Leisure is looked at in this workshop as both an attitude of mind and as a condition for spiritual growth: it fosters the capacity, if properly used, to grasp the reality and mystery of the world, and our place in the world. Leisure: The Basis of Culture, by Josef Pieper will be the text used for discussions. Participants in the workshop are asked to read, before initial meeting, the first of the two essays in the book, chapter I-V.  

Presenter:  Fr. Aelred Niespolo has been a monk of Valyermo since 2001 and was ordained to the priesthood in 2005.  Having completed the Master of Theology program at Oxford University, he teaches at St. John's Seminary in Camarillo.  He has served the Abbey as editor of the Valyermo Chronicle and as Director of Oblates.
